Subject: They let all the animals out!
Perhaps it was the partying from the night before that dulled this show a bit, in the midst of a shiny bright summer tour, but as I recall it could very well have been the fact that the show started early, in the dead of the Oklahoma heat - 107 degrees as I recall! The band, the crowd, the animals...everyone was dehydrated and worn down from the summer heat. NO shade to be found.
That being said, the second set cooled things out a bit..Playing>IKO was a nice open. The Lost/Saint seemed lost in this set as indecision seemed to rule the moment. Then they came out of the drums with a really smooth "The Wheel", one of my personal favorites! The boys really tried to give it their level-best. A real neat idea, playing at the City Zoo, but Okies are used to much tougher weather than Dead Heads is the way I see it. Just ask Woodie Guthrie...

Subject: Soundboards are Not Always the Best
C'mon...,
So very often a lovingly recorded audience show kicks complete ass over frequently soulless soundboards.

It was important that we got this AUD out there. Huge thanks to the unrelenting Jake Feinberg who provided the 2nd GEN, yes, 2nd GEN cassettes.

Subject: One of my first tapes
I was given a tape of this show many years ago by my brother..to this date I'm still amazed at the second set how they get from Playin' to Iko and back again. I have the sbd on my ipod and was listening to it a couple days ago while waiting for my wife at a doctor appt. I didn't want to get up and leave.
Was visiting with my sister and brother in law in Calif this last week (on the occasion of my mother's funeral) and turns out this was his first show..and one my first tapes..I never get tired of this one.

Subject: Jerry's 40th Birthday
this show was more for the fact of his birthday
it was about 104 degrees that afternoon
and the band had it's moments
there were many tapers at this show
since they were letting almost anything in
this version unfortunately has several cassette generations with DOLBY
worth the download if you were there
otherwise... seek out the SBD
